Packages menu

A Package is a representation of the extension. For a Business Central page to be extended with Meta UI, an extension with this page must be created to display the configured view. This extension includes the page extension object and allows Meta UI to show Business Central data and apply configuration settings that help display that data most efficiently.

A package is a document where you can specify the pages that you want to extend. It gives you an interface to manage the related extension (install/uninstall, etc.). You can create numerous packages.

See below for detailed info on the Packages menu options. (The menu items applicable to a specific package are also found in the "show-more" (three dots) menu by the package's name).

Generate and Deploy Extension

Ability to install the package (inactive if the package is already installed).

Uninstall

Ability to uninstall the package.

(Note: for the page to have the Meta UI view, the package must be Installed).

Refresh Status

Click to refresh the current status of the package.

Batch Install

The Batch Install action allows installing more than one package at the same time.

Packages batch install occurs via a background session, thus not blocking your further work with the user interface.

Extension Management

Upon clicking on Extension Management, the Installed Extensions page pops up, where all the available extensions are listed and can be managed. Also, see Set up the App.

Deployment Status

Upon clicking on Deployment Status, the Deployment Status page opens, which describes the operations and statuses of all extensions within the current environment.

Operations with extensions:

  • Upload
  • Install

Statuses of operations:

  • Completed
  • In Progress
  • Failed

Edit

Ability to edit the package (add or remove pages).

Note: you cannot add/remove pages from the package with the status Installed. Uninstall the package to be able to modify it.

Use New Line and Delete Line buttons to add and remove pages from the package, respectively.

New

Ability to create a new package. You can create numerous packages.

In the Meta UI Package window:

1. Indicate the name of your new package

2. Add the pages to be extended (one by one).

3. Click Generate and Deploy Extension

After the package is generated and deployed, it will be available in the Extension Management.

Pages

Here the tiles with page names are displayed for the package selected on the left. Upon clicking on the tile, the configurations of the page opened.
