To configure the view of rows, see the Configurations: Rows article.

Adding a Column

Use the Add New Column button to create a new column in your grid:

In the Create column window, specify the Column Type and the required fields.

Depending on the column type selected, you may need to configure other settings (for details, see the Column Settings section below).

Deleting a Column

To remove a column from the grid, click the trash bin icon:

Editing a Column

The columns displayed in the BC grid follow the order given in the configuration editor.

To move the columns around the grid, use the arrow buttons on the left:

To configure each column, click the Edit button:

The Edit Column window pops up.

For a detailed description of each setting see the Column Settings section below.

Click Ok to save the configuration after editing.

Click Cancel to close the Edit column window.

Column Settings

In this section, the settings found in Create column/Edit column window, are described.

Note:

The settings you configure depend on the column type you have chosen.

Column Types

The following column types are available:

  • Default:
  • Icon:
  • Icon with text
  • Progress Bar
  • Media

Checkboxes

  • Is Visible: when enabled, the column is displayed in the grid; when disabled, it is hidden. (Note: You can also hide it directly on the BC page using the context menu).
  • Is Resizable: when enabled, the column can be manually resized.
  • Is Sortable: when enabled, the column values can be sorted directly in the BC grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Is Italic: when enabled, the text in the cell is italicized
  • Is underlined: when enabled, the text in the cell is underlined

Value Providers

A Value Provider is one of the standard BC fields (available from the list):

Also, you can check for additional fields for your grid from the Value Providers tab (also, refer to the Configurations: Value Providers article):

If the Column Type is Media, the value provider has the picture type (data type = Media/MediaSet/Blob). In this case, the picture will be available by clicking on Show.

Example:

>

Width

In this field, specify the width of the column in

Styles

Here you select the default and conditional styling of the text in the column.

Example of the Default Styles setup:

In the Conditional Styles, you can set up style rules that will be applied to the column according to the given condition. To find out more, refer to the Rules and Rulesets article.

Actions

Here you can add an action, which will be available from the context menu of the column cell (mouse right-click).

Action types:

  • External Link
  • Related Page
  • Show custom HTML
  • Show MetaUI component
  • Show PowerBI Report
  • Send HTTP Request

Below see the examples of how to configure each action type and how they may look in the BC page.

External link

The external link points to any external page which is opened in a separate browser tab.
To configure the external link action, provide the external page URL and click Parse.
Example:

Related page

The related page is an internal BC page linked with the given column, filtered to the given field or sorted in the required way.
To configure a related page action, select the Page ID from the list.
Provide filtering conditions and enable sorting if required.
The related BC page will be opened in the same tab upon clicking.

Example:

Show custom HTML

This option provides an ability to add custom HTML code to embed e.g. a map, a converter, a report, etc. into the cell context menu.

In BC this looks as follows:

Show Meta UI Component

The MetaUI Component is basically a related page with the selected configuration:

Show PowerBI Report

Send HTTP Request

Tooltip

Here you can add a tooltip to be displayed for the cell on mouse-hover:

The Default tooltip duplicates the cell (convenient when the text is too long to be displayed in the table cell in full).
Example:

The Custom HTML option provides an ability to add custom HTML code to embed e.g. a map, a converter, a report, etc. as part of a tooltip of the column cell. For Custom HTML settings see Show custom HTML above.

The Disable option hides a tooltip.
